A vision the prophet Micah received - bible, Micah chapter 4: verses 1-4

In days to come the mountain where the Temple stands will be the highest one of all, towering above all the hills. Many nations will come streaming to it, and their people will say,

“Let us go up the hill of the Lord, to the Temple of Israel's God.
He will teach us what he wants us to do; we will walk in the paths he has chosen.
For the Lord's teaching comes from Jerusalem; from Zion he speaks to his people.”

He will settle disputes among the nations, among the great powers near and far.
They will hammer their swords into ploughs and their spears into pruning knives.
Nations will never again go to war, never prepare for battle again.
Everyone will live in peace among their own vineyards and fig trees, and no one will make them afraid.
The Lord Almighty has promised this.

Words of Jesus, recorded in the bible, gospel of Matthew, chapter 5: verses 38-48

“You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.’

But now I tell you: do not take revenge on someone who wrongs you. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, let them slap your left cheek too. And if someone takes you to court to sue you for your shirt, let them have your coat as well. And if one of the occupation troops forces you to carry their pack one mile, carry it two miles. When someone asks you for something, give it to them; when someone wants to borrow something, lend it to them.

“You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your friends, hate your enemies.’

But now I tell you: love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may become the children of your Father in heaven. For he makes his sun to shine on bad and good people alike, and gives rain to those who do good and to those who do evil.

Why should God reward you if you love only the people who love you? Even the tax collectors do that! And if you speak only to your friends, have you done anything out of the ordinary? Even the pagans do that! You must be perfect—just as your Father in heaven is perfect.
